FEMALE VOICE: I had breakfast and then four hours later I’m starting to feel hungry again and starting to snack. So I think it’s time to adjust it.
MALE VOICE: One of the key components to lap-band surgery, it’s not just a surgery itself, but the fills and the adjustments that we do afterwards, that’s the real critical part of the treatment program. Most patients need between three and six fills within the first year after surgery. In the following years we usually give about one to two fills per year. Fills are very easily performed within the office. Just a few minutes with a little bit of local anesthesia. It’s a virtually painless procedure for the patient. The way in which a fill is performed is demonstrated by this model. If you see, this here is the la0p-band, which is sitting around the top of the stomach, is connected to the tubing. The tubing is then connected to this port. The port sits, again, below the skin, down near the muscle and we access the port with a needle, either putting fluid in or taking fluid out. Very simple, straight forward process. It is a hallmark to the treatment with the lap-band.
