MALE VOICE: The pre-operative phase of—for bariatric surgery it is involved—it starts with a motivated patient and most patients go through information seminar. Our initial consult is more like a team approach. They meet the nurses, our front office staff first and then they kind of come to the back office where they encounter Dr. Krahn and myself.
FEMALE VOICE: - - pre-operative process would be to educate the patient and their family about, what they’re getting themselves into. I make sure they understand the risks but also the benefits of what they’re going to undergo. Uhm, it is not just a surgery. It’s a whole life long process. Uhm, so there’s probably about 12 to 15 hours of education that has to occur.
MALE VOICE: We also have behavior modification programs in which we try to curve people’s behavior before surgery. We also have nutrition classes and things like that.
